About/FAQ
Barb Breitung (AKA Tappy)
I have been working with children for over 25 years. I started Tappy's Face Painting out of love for costumes and Halloween makeup. I enjoy each and every face that I paint. Seeing their smiles when they look in the mirror makes me so happy that I have chosen this profession.
I have been teaching face painting for the past few years at the FPBA Convention in St. Louis Mo. where I also take classes in face painting, glitter tattoos, body art and balloon twisting. I have also had some of my work featured in SkinMarkz Magazine, The Colored Palette, Q Magazine and Wet Paint Magazine. Channel 19 in Lacrosse did a Halloween segment on face painting for kids and I was asked to do a short demo of some easy faces.
Social media plays a big game in my face painting business and I have met many new face painting friends along the way. A few years ago I started a collaboration group called The Swirly Girlies, we do weekly challenges and then post them for all to see, we have also had our work published as a group as well. I have recently started another collaboration group called The Painting Posse we also do weekly challenges and post on social media.
Our Products
We use only FDA compliant face and body paint for the skin. These water based formulas are specifically designed to be gentle, and easy to remove with mild soap and water. The brands we use are Snazaroo, Diamond FX, Tag, Paradise, and Wolfe. We use only cosmetic grade glitter.
Our Face Painting Policies
Ages: For your child’s safety, we do not paint the faces of children under 3 years of age. We will be happy to paint a design on a little arm for kids under 3 years of age.
Skin: We can’t paint skin with any kind of condition such as conjunctivitis, cuts, sunburn, or other rash's.
Willingness: Under no circumstances will we paint anyone who is unwilling. Face painting is supposed to be a fun and enjoyable.
Do Face Painters Need Insurance?
While there is very little chance that harm will come to a child while being painted, I’ve chosen to invest in insurance for myself and my clients. I have a policy with Speciality Insurance Agency as have many professional face painters.
It provides peace of mind to me and should be an assurance to you that I take my
business seriously.
